District of Columbia residents are continuing to mourn their "Mayor for Life.''
From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Marion Barry's body will be taken by public procession to Temple of Praise (700 Southern Ave. SE), a church he regularly attended. (Map of route above.) Most of the route will be east of the Anacostia River in southeast Washington, the section of the District where Barry lived. Barry also represented that portion of the city on the D.C. Council.
From the Wilson building the procession will travel as follows:
After the processional, there will be a public viewing at Temple of Praise from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. The church will host a community memorial service for Barry from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Rev. Al Sharpton will deliver the eulogy.
