Dr. Tajudeen Abdul-Raheem, the most irrepressible Pan Africanist of his generation, died in Nairobi on 24 May 2009. His friends and colleagues are stunned at the loss of a man who was so full of life and humour, such a determined Afro-optimist, and such a devoted father to his children, Aisha and Aida. Africa is impoverished by his untimely death. Tajudeen was born in Funtua, Katsina State, Nigeria, in 1961. His commitment to his home town and family remained undimmed throughout his life. He was educated at Government Schools in Funtua from where he went to Bayero University, Kano, where he graduated with a first class honours degree. He was winner of the Nigerian Government’s Merit Award as the best student of Political Science between 1980-82 at Bayero University. < for more >

  • Baba Dudley Thompson Tribute to Tajudeen

A towering tree has fallen in the forest of millions of fighters for the cause of PanAfricanism. A new name is added to the Pantheon of Black Achievers. For many years I have watched and worked with and learned from Tajudeen who has steadfastly laboured in the field for Black Empowerment.
His contribution to the cause has been immeasurable.

As journalist, secretary, savant, polemicist and scholar he has earned the honour and universal respect for his courage, honesty, and integrity. After sharing his companionship for over 40 forty years I can say without fear of contradiction that it will be near impossible to find his successor as a Pan African historian... His shoes will be hard to fill.

Tajudeen Mohammed has left a rich legacy to eternity. As a role model we shall remember him. The World African Diaspora WADU mourns his loss . May his followers and our children pay honour and respect to his name and condolences to those in his family that he has left behind,

    Dudley Thompson,
    President of WADU

May God take bro. Mohammad's soul, mold it, and send us an army just like him. The struggle continues.
