Refugee Resettlement of Catholic Charities, NY

My name is Saad Saaed and I am the Match Grant Coordinator for the Refugee Resettlement of Catholic Charities Community Services of the Archdiocese of New York. I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and your organization because the people and community with which you work may benefit from our programs. We have a range of programs that serve survivors of violence and persecution who have fled their homes to seek a new opportunity for life in the United States. Catholic Charities Community Services has several employment programs specifically targeted at helping refugees, asylees, Cuban and Haitian Entrants and Certified Victims of Human Trafficking to gain employment and become self-sufficient.

Match Grant: Eligible individuals must enroll within 31 days of grant of status as an asylee, Cuban/Haitian Entrant or Victim of Trafficking. Once enrolled, the program offers intensive employment assistance, English classes, resume preparation, job placement and cash assistance as an alternative to welfare for 120 days. Case managers, job developers and employment trainers follow up and support clients in their journey to self-sufficiency. Match Grant also offers cash assistance as an alternative to welfare during the initial months of resettlement. Individuals should not wait to enroll until they have received a Social Security card or Employment Authorization Card.

Refugee Social Services Program: RSSP is for eligible individuals seeking employment who have been granted status as an asylee, Cuban/Haitian Entrant or Victim of Trafficking within the past five years. RSSP provides job preparation, job placement and other support employment and social services.

New York Refugee Resettlement Program: NYSRRAP offers case management, cultural orientation, ESL and other supportive services regardless of how long it has been since arrival or date of status.

Individuals should not wait to enroll until they have received a Social Security card or Employment Authorization Card. All services are free and confidential.
