My name is Marc Fallon and I'm writing to you from CAMBA.  I wanted to inform you about an ongoing program we offer that may be of interest to your students, clients, friends and relatives. Immigrant Professionals Training Program (IPTP) is a 7 week course that helps prepare professionals from abroad with continuing their career. Courses cover information about getting foreign licenses and diplomas evaluated, licensing procedures in the US and info about school systems in the US. Students who enroll also are able to arrange one-on-one sessions for career planning, assistance with registering for exams and filing out financial aid. IPTP clients have professional backgrounds in diverse fields such as accounting, journalism, education, agronomy, law, medicine, business, and social work.  Since the program began, IPTP has served more than 200 refugees, asylees, and victims of trafficking, representing more than 25 different countries.

Recent IPTP participants have pursued a variety of career paths:

  • IPTP has helped many teachers apply for a teaching certificate from the NY State Education Department.
  • Dozens of IPTP clients with backgrounds in community development and micro-finance were selected for internships with CAMBA's Small Business Services Program.
  • With help from CAMBA, a nutritionist from West Africa got a job as an HIV Treatment Educator and Adherence Specialist.  Since participating in IPTP he has started a Physicians Assistant program at City College.

We are currently enrolling students for a course scheduled to begin on June 15th.
