The Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce is the largest Black trade organization in the state of Illinois and is well know for its hard work in helping build and support the thousands of black owned businesses throughout the state. This year's dynamic 10th Annual Convention will include networking opportunities with some of the largest and best Black entrepreneurs in the state, top business and political leaders from around the world, industry procurement executives and policy-makers, as well as key decision makers who have a genuine interest in supporting the Illinois business community. The conference opens on Wednesday, August 12th with a Procurement Opportunity Fair for 100 select business owners to meet with over 20 companies and agencies' procurement executives. "This will give businesses a chance to meet face-to-face with the decision makers and to identify real opportunities for their companies," said Larry D. Ivory President/CEO of the Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce.
The Fair will begin with opening comments from the Senate Majority Leader Senator James Clayborne who will talk about Getting Ready for the Opportunity followed by Cook County Commissioner and Attorney Richard Boykin who will discuss the Power of Diversity. Invited companies and agencies include: Ameren Illinois, ComEd, Nicor Gas, Illinois American Water, the Par-A-Dice Hotel, the City of Peoria, the City of Decatur, Illinois Casino Gaming Association, the University of Illinois, the City of Chicago, Cook County, North Western University, AT & T, Country Financial, Rivers Casino, the Department of Corrections, the Illinois Tollway, Central Management Services, Illinois Department of Transportation, the Capital Development Board, and the Department of Human Services. |

The Welcome Reception will be highlighted by a special award presentation to Richard J. Mark, Chairman/President Ameren Illinois Company for Outstanding Corporate Partner and a presentation,Tuskegee Next by Stephen Davis, President the Will Group. The Mission of Tuskegee Next is to train and support 100 minority Chicago area youth in obtaining their pilot license by the year 2025. The evening concludes with this year's entertainment, Harlem Renaissance to Modern Day Tribute Show with a Jazz and Blues renditions by Angela Shaunette Felix, Lifeline Talent & Production. Angela has starred on stage, film, and television and is a touring performer and recording artist. Throughout her career, she has shared the stage singing duets, background and/or opening for notable artist such as the O-Jays, S.O.S Band, Palmer Williams Jr. (from Tyler Perry's House of Payne and Love Thy Neighbor), Kelly Price, Shirley Murdock, Coco Brown, The Rude Boys, Angela Bofill, Keith "Wonderboy" Johnson, Men At Large, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Angela Winbush, Sherrell, and many others.

The Procurement Opportunities Panel will discuss future procurement opportunities with some of the top state agencies in Illinois, what it takes to do business with them, new initiatives, and building capacity. Participating agencies include the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), the Department of Corrections, Central Management Services (CMS), and the Department of Human Services (DHS). |
Construction and Bonding Panel | The Construction and Bonding Panel will focus on opportunities with IDOT, the Illinois Tollway , and the Capital Development Board. Infrastructure Engineering and Lion Construction will also give their insight on doing business with these agencies. - The Chamber's first ever Black Media Panel hosted by Charles Thomas, Political Editor ABC Channel 7 Chicago will talk about the importance of strengthening Black Media with leading executives from television, radio, and newspaper including the Chicago Crusader, the Chicago Defender, former Fox 32 Newscast Robin Robinson, and TBT News.

The convention concludes with an elegant Awards Gala Thursday evening from 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM recognizing businesses and corporations for their outstanding contributions and successes. The Keynote speaker is Lamman Rucker, an American Actor best known for his role as T. Marshall Travers on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns, Will Brown on Tyler Perry's TBS sitcom Meet the Browns, and Troy Jackson in Why Did I Get Married.
