Tell your Illinois legislator:
Enough is enough...no beverage tax
SPRINGFIELD - Illinois could become the first state in the U.S. to impose a beverage tax. Senate Bill 9 is a tax that will dramatically increase the cost of hundreds of common beverages such as teas, soda, juice drinks, energy drinks, sports drinks and even flavored water.
The proposal is to charge a penny-per-ounce tax on sugary beverages. This means consumers could pay an extra $1.44 on a 12 pack and an extra $.67 for a 2-liter. If approved, many Illinois residents would pay $1.50 in taxes on a $.99 product.
This tax could possibly destroy jobs, hurt small businesses and increase the cost of groceries for Illinois families.
If you are tired of being over-taxed, now is the time to take action and send a message to your state legislator. Say no to paying more at the store, you can go online at www.noilbeveragetax.com
