He’s Back! Ramonski Luv joins Soul 106.3 WSRB-FM
After being released with no fanfare or explanation from V103 on Clear Channel Radio (now called iHeartMedia), the veteran radio personality will return to Chicago radio and begin his new job as nighttime host on WSRB-FM/Soul 106.3. Luv is another big addition to the list of WSRB on-air hires that include radio veterans Sundance and Mike Love.
Raymond Wade III, known in Chicago as Ramonski Lu, has signed up with Crawford Broadcasting and beginning December 1, according to a news release on the Soul 106.3 website, will be heard weeknights from 6pm to 10pm on Soul 106.3.
Ramonski graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 1984 and spent much of his 30-year radio career in Chicago. He worked as a producer for numerous hosts at WGCI-FM/107.5WGCI, including Doug Banks, who gave him the nickname Ramonski Luv.
In the 1980s, he also created and hosted what is being called Chicago’s first all-rap show, “Rap Down.” From there, he went on to host and co-host numerous other shows on WGCI-FM, and since 2000, on WVAZ-FM/V103.
Luv was part of the #1 rated nighttime program, V103’s “The Real Show,” which he had long co-hosted with his on-air partner Joe Soto. The duo had celebrated their 10th anniversary together this past April.
Luv consistently encourages listeners with positive affirmations and his constant recognition of a Higher Power. The loved personality also is known for promoting peace in the hood, supports youth initiatives and local, community-based businesses.
I have known Ramonski Luv personally and professionally for over 30 years, for we worked together when I started as a teen-DJ with the old WVON-AM under the legendarty Good Guys; to college radio promotions at WKKC-FM; high school and college party and record promoter, graduated to disco and house music DJ and promoter, nightclub and lounge owner and mixed it all with those same years in civic activism as well. And through all those years to today, Ramonski Luv and I have been connected through the highs and lows of our lives, and today it is wonderful to help lift him up at this next blessing in his life to now be heard and grow with the great people at SOUL 106.3
Ramonski is a RARE breed today who truly believes in combining his celebrity with his strong sense of community consciousness!
