Another "Cover-up" From Office Of Anita Alvarez Surfaces.

 

Chicago, IL – Yet ANOTHER VICTIM of Anita Alvarez's Bad policies will hold a Press Conference outside the office of Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez at 50 West Washington on Thursday, December 10^th at 12 noon. The victim and supporters will: 1) Make a formal request to the DOJ to expand its federal probe to include Alvarez’s office amid allegations of another politically-connected cover-up and; 2) Present petitions to the State’s Attorney of nearly 1,000 supporters, including the signatures of six Alderman requesting the victim be allowed to appear before the Cook County Grand Jury. 

 

Anita Alvarez's failure to seek justice for the victim, Gwendolyn Chubb, whose husband attacked her with a knife in front of their children, ages 6 and 3 at the time, appears to contradict Alvarez's remarks in a Chicago Sun-Times Sneed Column dated September 17, 2014, regarding her office's policy on prosecuting domestic abusers. 

In the article Alvarez is quoted as saying, "Diversion is not an option in domestic violence cases here in Cook county... Domestic violence is just that - it is a crime of violence, and our position is that offenders should be held accountable in a court of law for their violent actions." 

 

Apparently, Alvarez didn't follow her own policy when she chose not to prosecute Steven Shavers, longtime political fixer, and then allowed each of his arrests to be sealed, voided or expunged. 

 

Ms. Chubb submitted a Freedom Of Information Act request to the States Attorney's FOIA officer Paul Castiglione to get an explanation and/or information from State’s Attorney Alvarez as to why a repeat offender with three arrests for felony battery committed against two different wives has never been prosecuted by Alvarez.  The office responded with a phone call to Ms. Chubb and had one major focus - "Have you been contacted by any media?" 

 

"It appears that the States Attorney has failed to fulfill the oath she swore to uphold to administer justice. However, Alvarez has been quite successful at covering up crimes for officers, judges, elected officials and other politically-connected insiders", stated one crime victim’s rights activist.
