- On Sunday, September 18th in Joliet, Illinois, at the Chicagoland Speedway, during the Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 NASCAR race, National Black Wall Street Chicago, National Black Wall Street USA, additional national Black economic organizations, as well as Chicago community activist groups will spearhead a Civil Rights Protest against NASCAR and their sponsors, in partnership with the Minority Youth Matters Movement.

The purpose of this protest is to bring further attention to the systematic discrimination and oppression of African American participation within the lucrative motorsports industry. With NASCAR having held races in Chicago/Joliet for the past 15 years, NASCAR, nor the Chicagoland Speedway, has invited, encouraged or welcomed African Americans to come and enjoy the festivities associated with this race weekend.

One year ago, the Minority Youth Matters Movement brought a group of young people out to this race and were met with racial hostility and confederate flags! So this year, we can not have NASCAR, their sponsors, race teams and fans flaunt their “white privilege” at Chicagoans’/African Americans expense. Now we understand that most African Americans do not consider NASCAR and/or motorsports a sport, and many do not understand motorsports’ value and appeal, but not only is it a sport, motorsports/NASCAR is one of the most financially lucrative sporting industries in the world, because of corporate sponsors/partners and African American consumers.

NASCAR receives Billions of dollars from corporate partners, and African American (team owners and/or drivers) are not receiving one single penny to participate on an equal basis. Considering African Americans account for $1.3 Trillion in annual spending power, and 33+ Million people strong in this country, National Black Wall Street Chicago/National Black Wall Street USA adamantly believes there should be several Black owned teams and drivers represented within all disciplines of motorsport.

With National Black Wall Street Chicago/National Black Wall Street USA, as the lead organizer, partnering with other community activist groups needing and wanting to have their voices heard, on September 18th, our National Black Economic Advocacy Group can be responsible for spearheading the largest and most influential Civil Rights protest in America - hands down!

The founding member of the Minority Youth Matters Movement, Terrance Alton Cox III, was recently honored by United States Representative of the 13th District of New York, Congressman Charles B. Rangel, with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition. Mr. Cox’s vision is to accentuate the Minority Youth Matters Movement’s existing Civil Rights platform against NASCAR and their sponsors, to empower our National Black Economic Advocacy Group as a financial powerhouse broker, to invoke fiscal change in America, with regards to the systematic discrimination and oppression minorities face in this country. To that end, the Minority Youth Matters Movement will have the credibility to help ensure National Black Wall Street Chicago/National Black Wall Street USA will go down in history as one of the pioneering Civil Rights activist groups that brought awareness to all of the issues facing the underserved communities in America.

It is without question that Chicago/Joliet can be used as a Civil Rights protest beacon for bringing further attention to excessive police brutality, unjust incarceration, gun violence, unemployment, inadequate educational system, systematic discrimination and oppression. For this reason, National Black Wall Street Chicago and National Black Wall Street USA is putting forth this call to action for all National Black Economic Advocacy Groups and Chicago community activist groups to partner with the Minority Youth Matters Movement’s protest against NASCAR and their sponsors.

After September 18th, National Black Wall Street Chicago and National Black Wall Street USA will reconvene and determine which NASCAR sponsors we will initiate a national boycott. Mark S. Allen Chairman & COO National Black Wall Street Chicago Chief of Staff To Rev. Michael Carter, National Chairman of National Black Wall Street USA
