Chicago,IL On October 6, 2015 StarPlanet TV's renown series Straight Talk, hosted by W.L.Lillard, showcased the MLK Republicans and discussed the importance of the Black community having a seat at table and a voice in the Majority party.
Jimmy Lee Tillman, II, candidate for 1st congressional district in Illinois, was joined by Jason "Coach" Rooks, MLK Republican Youth Coordinator, Nate Stewart, MLK Republican Technical Coordinator, and hip hop artist Prophit Child Paul.
The handsome group discussed how the MLK Republicans are utilizing hip hop and technology to organize the youth and its plans to draft them as delegates for the upcoming Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
Rooks who advocates for over 100 youth remarks "not only do our youth have a future in politics they have an agenda and know there is another side to the coin. We must plant our flags on both sides".
Through the use of social media and smart technology the MLK Republicans plan to connect with non-traditional voters. They will also be producing and giving away free hip hop mixtapes featuring upcoming artist that will be uplifting and encouraging.
"We would like to give the youth, ages 17 to 25 the opportunity to pick the next leader of the free world. We want them to be in the room and see how powerful they are and how much power that they have", stated Tillman.
