Major Media Blackout Of Major Black Church Burnings In The South?
The "operational unity" and "united front" that our collective Black leadership MUST show
in the Black community first on this issue!

MARK ALLEN, Veteran activist and National Black Wall Street leader analysis and CALL TO ACTION!

7 predominantly-black churches (now 8) across the South have been burned down since the racially-inspired terrorist attack in Charleston. 3 have been ruled as arson. Last night's burning of Mt. Zion AME church in Greeleyville, SC comes almost 20 years to the date of the last time that church was burned by two self-proclaimed KKK members. So far, the media has barely given these church burnings a passing mention.

Mount Zion, in Greeleyville, S.C., is the 8th black church to burn in 10 days.

One thing that I learned from working with major media outlets is how they monitor the local and national Black press and Black organization sites to measure what they think are burning issues in the Black community. I will always remember this major White Assignment editor who told me not to challenge major media outlets on Black issues they should cover on their major news outlets that they do not see as a priority on the Black news sites or Black organizations they monitor. I do not disagree. Major news outlets like CNN and others provided round the clock coverage of Blacks and others "rioting" and looting, but the burning now of this 8th Black church has not generated the same kind of coverage.

Here is what I suggest, for I am tired of reading so many posts about the lack of major news coverage by so many that do not conclude with any ACTION on their part. So here is what I suggest as a CALL TO ACTION!! People like Rev. Jesse Jackson, Roland Martin, Rev Al Sharpton have national radio and TV shows that national press monitor and their UNITED FRONT message on their shows should be this issue, AND I cannot imagine ANY major news national news editors who will ignore their calls on why this church burning issue is not a major news focus. People like Sharpton and Jackson also have national community forums this weekend where the major media would not ignore their UNITED FRONT press conferences with national religious leaders on this issue. Let me also suggest that there be major editorial positions in ALL of the Black news outlets that carry The NABJ columnists and should have a UNITED FRONT message from the NABJ on major networks not carrying and focusing on this major Black church burnings issue. Next, we have to have this SAME UNITED FRONT press conference message from The Congressional Black Caucus.

Finally, its national political season and their are so many of our Black leadership across the country allied with Hillary Clinton, so what better time than to challenge a Clinton to call for The Justice Department or some federal entity to at least ACT like they are investigating the possibility that maybe some Hate Group may be orchestrating these major Black church burnings. So THERE! In my judgement, major media outlets will act like this church burning issue is a major issue when they look up and SEE that our collective Black community and our OWN Black outlets have declared this Black church burning issue a major issue in our own community. So I am going to start by requesting that all of the National Black Wall Street chapters across the country issue public postings on this issue today on all of our sites. And then I will will do e-blasts and calls to the respective national news assignment editors on their coverage of this Black church burning issue.
BUT PLEASE, I just HOPE that these assignments editors arent able to hit me back with "Why am I challenging them when this doesnt appear to a major issue from the Black media and Black leadership they monitor?" No more posts about the problem that is NOT concluded with your form of action to get the response so many posts say is lacking on this Black church burnings issue!  If you want the major media to act like "BLACK LIVES MATTER then Black people FIRST must act like they and our major Black institutions of the Black church matter to us!!
