National Black Wall Street Chicago is pleased to join The Save Our Community Coalition and others in making a special public appeal to help an Englewood community organization that serves the children from 1-18 in the community who are children of incarcerated parents.  They provided hot meals, clothing and toys each Christmas through their program called CHIPS (Children of Incarcerated Parents).   Their annual event is scheduled for Saturday December 20th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Last year they served over 700 children and this year they have over 2,000 children signed up and need help service them all.  The program is run by Sister Geraldine Smith, a women from the community who spent 19 years on Illinois Death Row before being released six years ago and started this event at The Life Builders Organization located at 6855 South Emerald.

The link from a story on ABC7 News this week provides all the details that we hope will encourage others to help spread the word, and generate the rest of the support needed to serve the over 2,000 children of incarcerated parents.
