"Free" Tax Auction
Rights & Options Help Day!
On Saturday, April 1st, housing action groups of the
Stable Project will join with the Westside Justice Center
to provide "Free" legal rights and options advice
and homeownership retention options to homeowners
in West County and Chicago's Westside who homes
are on the April 3rd Tax Auction Sale.
Otis Monroe, CEO of the Monroe Foundation,
a nonprofit advocacy organization that organized
the "Help Day",stated, We cannot sit on the sidelines
and not have offered some help, some response. The option
of not responding is not an option".
Free help will be provided by lawyers who can
advise of the rights of homeowners if their
home is sold at auction, and HUD approved
housing counseling agencies will provide
advocacy counsel to help homeowner
retention.
