“45 Years After the Death of Fred Hampton What Does it Mean to be Black in America?”
“The recent decision made by the grand jury in the case of Michael Brown underscores the unwritten rule that being Black in America means that we have no value; that anyone can kill Black men in this country without recourse. This is the travesty that every Black person must come to grips with which provokes yet another setback for race relations in America.”

On Thursday, December 4th, U.S. Representative (and former Black Panther) Bobby L. Rush (D-Ill.) will host a Special Order on the topic of the death of Fred Hampton.
Hampton was murdered while sleeping at his
apartment during a raid by a tactical unit of the Cook County, Illinois State's Attorney's Office,
in conjunction with the Chicago Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Hampton's murder was based on his belief that Blacks had equal rights in America. Rush will
connect the police involvement in the murder of Fred Hampton to the police involvement in the
recent shooting death of unarmed teen, Michael Brown.
