I am humbled to begin this Breast Cancer Awareness Month in organizing and mobilizing for our organization Women's Economic Empowerment luncheon that I dedicate to the memory of my late mother Ollie Allen who died February 2014 after over 30 years as a Breast Cancer Survivor. It seems like yesterday when the doctors said that "the bad news is that her cancer has spread so much so fast that its terminal, BUT the good news is that we cannot explain why the cancer has filled her entire body but not her brain.!" And with that my mother was able to spend her final few days giving the family her last instructions. Just before she took her final breaths she said "I Love you son and you don't have to stay here with me but just keep praying for me as I have already talked to God for me and you will make your mom proud if you went back to work at the office we sacrificed so much for you to set up and let me know that your are working there, for I have prayed for you to have prayed for you to have the strength to go and make that office and organization grow." She said, and "also, go back there to that office and work, and TAKE YOUR BROTHER WITH YOU.!"
After that I continued to play her her favorite gospel music including that last song she heard before she died, YOUR WILL by Darius Brooks. And I told her that "HER WILL and what she asked on her dying bed was as the song says "Good enough for me." Today is a GOOD DAY to say that "Momma, I am DOING what you told me," and I hope that in her honor that I am able to SELL OUT all 30 seats or more! God bless
