Some of y'all "ain't gone" like this but......the Black Activist Community in Chicago suffers from MENTAL ILLNESS in large numbers and MANY also have a COINTELPRO chip in their brain...SMH.
This is why movements are stagnated or EASILY DISSOLVED. I created a list to help you identify WARNING SIGNS/RED FLAGS that you should look out for:

1. SPENDING TIME DEFINING LEADERSHIP instead of GETTING TO WORK.

2. Paranoia- Always worried about people trying to TAKE YOU down WHEN YOU REALLY HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING WORTH taking down... :/ JS

3. Living in the PAST rather than WORKING in the PRESENT while PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE.

4. Generational Wars- SPENDING time FIGHTING the WISDOM of Elders and dismissing the value of Youth.

5. ALWAYS wanting to BURN SOMETHING DOWN rather than WORKING TO BUILD THINGS UP.

6. ALWAYS MEETING about PROBLEMS and NEVER working to IMPLEMENT SOLUTIONS.

7. GATEKEEPING MENTALITY

8. Doing the SAME DAMN THING EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS.

9. POVERTY PIMPIN-Creating "PROGRAMS" simply to get GOVERNMENT GRANTS to HELP YOUR POCKETS NOT THE COMMUNITY !!

10. Viewing the VARY COMMUNITY you were born, RAISED, and/or CURRENTLY LIVE IN FROM THE LENSE OF YOUR OPPRESSOR- this is hard for SOME to UNDERSTAND because MAJORITY of y'all approach your own community from a WHITE SUPREMACIST perspective and don't even realize it.

If you join a group, attend a meeting and or see a "leader" doing ANY of THE ABOVE..........RUN!!!!

    My Sistah,

You have such a negative view of our community, making broad brush accusations about those who committed their lives to uplifting and fighting for the Black community(ies).  You need to read more and talk with others. If you haven't read "Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome" and "Breaking the Psychological Chains of Slavery," I highly recommend both of them because they address many of the criticisms in your essay.

The struggle is multi-generational.  It requires the activism of both elders (sages) and youth.  If you don't know where you've been, you won't know where you're going.

    Peace and Blessings

      Dear Dr. Sokoya,

Natasha Dunn may be an infiltrator. Mental illness is one of the ways in which the FBI destroys credibility. It's their COINTELPRO which is still in force despite the fact that the FBI was told by congress in the early 70s to just stick to interstate crime.

People tend not to listen to someone who they think is mentally ill. This is why the FBI uses it as a way to curtail advances and solutions to people's problems that are caused by the government. And they have the psychiatric profession involved in it too nearly 100%.

There is an excellent book that addresses how COINTELPRO subverts organizations. It's entitled The COINTELPRO Papers by Ward Churchill and Jim Vander Wall. I read it many years ago, and highly recommend it.

      Peace,

Yes, she may be but we don't know.  Thank you for the reference.  I have looked at some of the FBI's files on COINTELPRO but would be interested to see how the author addresses the issue.  Unfortunately, many in the African American community are unaware of impact of COINTELPRO on Black activism during the 60 and 70s.  It played a major role in locking up, killing, and defaming Black activists.

There used to be concern about privacy.  With the current technology, privacy is a thing of the past.  So, if the sistah is an infiltrator, so be it.  We must speak truth to power.

      Peace.
