FOR ILLINOIS STATE COMPTROLLER
LESLIE MUNGER HAS PROVEN TO BE A TRUE FRIEND TO AT RISK SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES BY PRIORITIZING THEIR PAYMENTS AHEAD OF LEGISLATORS

Bishop Larry D. Trotter – Senior Pastor of the Sweet Holy Spirit Church of Chicago- is announcing he is adding Leslie Munger as the lone republican to his list of personal endorsements for the upcoming November 8th General Election. Bishop Trotter, who in 2014 announced his support of Hillary Clinton for President of the United States, views Munger’s candidacy for Illinois State Comptroller as necessary to mend the horrific budget stalemate in Springfield.
With the exception of the Comptroller’s race, Bishop Trotter is endorsing the entire Democratic ticket, including that of Tammy Duckworth and Kim Foxx.
“Leslie has stood up to Governor Rauner, the Republicans and Democrats as it relates to withholding their legislative pay so that at risk providers could receive payments. These providers are often the lifeline to so many struggling families that are in need of these critical services.” says Bishop Trotter.
Bishop Trotter has been adamant about his opposition to how the state’s budget crisis has been handled. He was quoted in the Chicago Sun Times concerning his criticism of Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, a position in which he still maintains. However Leslie Munger stood up to the Governor of her own party and the four legislative leaders by fighting for human services.
Trotter adds, “In the spirit of my personal friend, the late Judy Barr Topinka, Leslie has become a familiar face in our community. In less than two short years Munger has made an impact in the lives of many minority families who have been disappointed by the Illinois General Assembly. Given a four year term, she will have the capacity to continue her quest to ensure that the most vulnerable of our community are a top priority within the Comptroller’s office”
Bishop Trotter has recorded a radio advertisement of his endorsement of Comptroller Munger. It is being aired throughout many African American radio stations.
