The underrepresentation of African Americans in tech has long been an issue and even today, many tech companies still struggle to address the lack of diversity in their hiring practices. This trend can be traced back as far as the 1970s when California's Bay Area became referred to and known as "Silicon Valley". Tech companies like Hewlett Packard, Xerox, followed by Facebook, Apple, and Google found a home in Northern Cali, yet few knowledgeable, capable Black IT, programmers, coders, and tech professionals feel welcomed. When they are, they are met with microaggressions in hostile environments.

For that reason alone, seeing any person of color jumping into a white male-dominated industry is a reason to celebrate. I would be remiss if I allowed my lack of tech savvy-ness to deter me from sharing with you my experience with the Figgers F3 smartphone. As your average, everyday consumer of a variety of products in various industries, this review is my first ever tech product review and I am delighted to share it with you. I have been a follower of Figgers Communications for a while now and it is my hope that if you did not know about this company before, you will be more knowledgeable now.

Figgers is a telecommunications company founded in 2009, aptly named after the company's founder Freddie Figgers. Figgers currently offers smartphone calling and data plans. For $165 per month, you can enjoy unlimited global roaming, talk, text, and data in over 80+ countries. The Florida-based telecom company and manufacturing facility released the F3 5G smartphone which I purchased in 2019 for my son.

You can find all of the specs here, touting up to 1TB of internal storage (the most of any 5G smartphone on the market at the time it was released), 4K display, and wireless charging within 5 meters of the Super Base charger (included in the Ultimate Package). The Figgers F3 smartphone runs on the Android operating system and is 5G network-ready. You should also know the F3 is also water-resistant should it start raining while you are trying to take a selfie or you drop it in the sink while you are washing dishes (like I did)!

In this video, I show you what I received when I ordered the Regular package, but there is the aforementioned Ultimate Package option available.
