“And, even more important, what happens when death comes? Is death the end of everything, as the humanists insist, or is it only the beginning of endless ages yet to come?”

Henry M. Morris, Author
“The Revelation Record”

The definition of a ‘classic’ is, simply: ‘something that stands the test of time’. Dr. Henry M. Morris, noted Bible scholar, scientist, and author has written one of the better explained and well-known research books on the Book of the Revelation in his work: “The Revelation Record: A Scientific and Devotional Commentary on the Prophetic Book of the End Times” (1983, Tyndale House Publishers, 521 pages.)

This book continues to be a classic to those who are interested in the study of the Book of the Revelation. Many of the top men who are worth their salt in the field of pre-tribulation prophetic teaching and study have taken this book as their ‘go to’ book when they have questions on prophecy. In fact, many of the top men today in the field got their start from “The Revelation Record”. It is a ‘word of mouth’ reference gold mine.

Dr. Morris breaks down each chapter of the book in an easy to read verse-by-verse format. It faithfully tracks along with the King James Version of the Bible. He literally unpacks the entire book in such a way that it is easy to understand and follow. Student and teacher alike have a lot that they can gain from within its covers. Also, the work has an extensive Index of Subjects, and Index of Scriptures.

Why are men and women continually drawn to this book of the Bible? Morris believes that man has always been interested in the future. However, man--in some cases, seems to have forgotten that God has His final imprint upon eternity and the final destination of man. This book does wonders for a sober examination of the future from a biblical point of view. “The Revelation Record” is available from your favorite electronic bookseller, or may be obtained through Tyndale House Publishers. It’s a recommended solid addition to one’s Bible study arsenal.

Mike Ramey is a Minister, Reviewer and Syndicated Columnist who lives in Indianapolis, Indiana. On Line Reviews brings current and lesser-known titles to public light in the quest to re-kindle a love for reading and thinking in a sea of modern technology.

Cape Cod arts organization, Song Keepers, Ltd. introduced Cape Cod to a roving performance series called The Phunk Hits, bringing the music of The GroovaLottos to the streets of the cape in celebration of a legacy of iconic venues.

CAPE COD, MASS - "The Phunk Hits" is the name given to a touring street concert organized by Song Keepers, Ltd in an effort to liven up the streets of Cape Cod with a little authentic soul, funk and blues music by the Grammy nominated band, The GroovaLottos. Starting on July 8th, the tour hit Harwich, Provincetown, Wellfleet, Orleans, Dennis, Falmouth, Mashpee, the Onset Blues Festival, Marion and the Boston Jazz Fest.

The idea for "The Phunk Hits" came about when it was noticed in the summer of 2016 many town had outdoor musical performances by local and regional acts, mostly geared towards the perceived tastes of older audiences, featuring jazz, folk, and light rock acts. Meanwhile, regional soul-funk-blues band, The GroovaLottos recognized that these same audiences were coming to their shows; a fact that a lot of the decision makers were over-looking.

Song Keepers, Ltd, a non-profit arts and education organization co-founded by members of The GroovaLottos submitted proposals to the local cultural councils of the 14 towns of Barnstable County as well as Wareham, Marion and Carver for The Phunk Hits allowing The GroovaLottos to perform up close and personal with their audiences. Truro, Wellfleet, Orleans, Brewster, Harwich, Dennis, Mashpee, Falmouth and Marion gave the green light to SKLs vision and on July 8th, The Phunk Hits kicked off with a performance on Main Street in Harwich Port.

"Cape Cod has an unfortunate history of segregation, but from this history also comes a legacy of self sufficiency for businesses and artists of color. When venues, and arts foundations say 'no", but the average person in the street says 'we love your music!'. you eliminate the middle-man and go directly to your audience." - Billie Atkins, President of Song Keepers, Ltd

From the 1950s to the early 2000s Cape Cod was home to a number of legendary venues for blues and soul music, where national artists such as Bobby Blue Bland, Muddy Waters, Rufus Thomas, James Brown; and regionally-based artists like Weeping Willie, the Jonzun Brothers, Tavares, and Richie Rich (of Parliament Funkadelic) were regular performers at such long-gone venues as Joe Pete's, Zach's, Joe's Twin Villa, On The Rocks, Johnny Yee's, The Plantation, and the Mill Hill Club. With the exception of places like Grumpy's Pub in Falmouth and Gilda's Stone Rooster in Marion, the current local venues and their management are of a very different ilk, as The GroovaLottos can attest, where bands are mostly background noise for watching television and drinking.

"Based on the number of hits we've had on social media, direct CD sales and downloads of our album in the last several weeks... not to mention the cash in our tip bucket, I'd say our audience has found us."- Mwalim DaPhunkee Professor of The GroovaLottos

By the end of September, "The Phunk Hits" will have had about 28 presentations. So far, the program has drawn a collected audience of over 7000 people live and the performances have appeared in approximately 900 Facebook and Instagram live-streams by spectators from around the world.

Song Keepers, Ltd plans to further develop The Phunk Hits for next summer to include more artists and more locations, hoping to increase the buy-in from other towns and collaborations with the chambers of commerces that stage summer concerts. Meanwhile, The Phunk Hits will continue to keep folks dancing in the streets from Provincetown to Bourne until the end of September when the party will move inside.

For more info, visit: http://facebook.com/thegroovalottos

The killin’ist thing about Tony Adamo & the New York Crew is that everybody in the band, especially the dope rhyme sayer, has got big ears all the way back to New Orleans and ancient-forward into the ever-evolving Multi-New Thing. It’s big ears working together that’s keeping this CD in Jazzweeks Chart Top 200 List since its release, a totally unheard of phenomenon for jazz-spoken word collaborations.

Although singing the talents and wonders of the giants who make this music immortal is nothing new, Adamo and the New York Crew pour out on these eleven tracks joyous lagniappes of praise, the song-cup running over with each additional solo. It’s one thing to express an artful appreciation of the Jazz Messengers, for example, in a song, but it’s a whole other monster of tribute when the band rocks Blakey’s sound so righteously. Former Headhunter Mike Clark (drummer, co-writer and producer) swings beyond emulation into stratospheric celebration and the whole band follows as Adamo catalogues the great players who have graced the bandstand with Bu. Tony lays out, the alto sax and trumpet blend beautifully and piano, trumpet, sax all solo before he reappears and everyone trades eights.

Like Sun Ra said, “Space is the place,” and Tim Ouimette, musical arranger, co-writer and trumpeter, masterfully spaces things so that each praise song layers in many textures and qualities. Bassist Richie Goods, pianist Michael Wolff and percussionist Bill Summers round out the rhythm section, all of whom have worked with the songwriting team of Adamo and Clark previously. The ease, grace and Old School range of the band is further enriched by Donald Harrison on alto saxophone, who brings his own Big Easy roots perspective to this praise-the-trad project. Indeed, the players deliver context, fusing the lyrical phrases of Adamo with the living musical tradition.

But the big ears thing with these first-call musicians really begins with the spoken word. Adamo, a Bronx paison, has fused many elements into his style beyond the obvious Gotham props to Gil-Scott Heron in the Seventies and the Beat and Black Art Movements of the Sixties. As for his inventiveness in the formation of phrases, there’s more than just a taste of Lester Young and Mezz Mezzrow musically and linguistically (the groove be the place) as well as philosophically, that is, it may now be considered hip to be hedonistic or narcissistic, but the code as manifested by Mezz and Prez spoke of the wheel of compassion, understanding, at-one-ment as well as the hard road of injustice. Adamo is walking this I’m You/You’re Me, Have Mercy talk. It’s a New York lineage that began with Walt Whitman and there’s no better company to keep.

In terms of how his tongue works, Adamo’s got the golden-pear-toned, shucks-by-golly, just-gimme-the-high-life-and-leave-out-the-rest, spooky disc jockey voiceover, a shock-mock-crock of total incredulity, a rumbling-crumb-bum-stumbling cross between Chuck D and Murray the K with his swingin’ soiree. His poetic line is free-versed bebop Uncle Wiggly in Connecticut, cousin to Eddie Jefferson’s weird word elasticity and kin to Babs Gonzalez’s mad hatter, flipped wig chatter with a chauffeured Moor to the Other Shore, but balanced by his deep baritone hugging a Jack Kerouac tenderness basted in bourbon, Buddha and the blues, delivered in a “hey man, this really happened” sincerity reminiscent of Allen Ginsberg. Ah, but Adamo can do more than recite rhymes or pull your coat to what’s really up and this is where shit gets scary: he whoops, swoops, croons and hollers! He second-line shouts! He bursts into song! Like Nuyorican Miguel Algarin, his sung words dance in the air with his spoken words. Like Newark griot Amiri Baraka raising up Coltrane, like Old Man Yeats writing of the dancer and the dance, like Ramakrishna singing of the Divine Mother, Adamo becomes the song he’s praising!

That’s why Bright Moments abound throughout. First tune out of the gate, it’s Lenny White (for real) kickin’ ferocious ass on the drum kit as Adamo bends vowels with his bare hands, bleeds through consonant clusters and rides the tributaries of sound current tributes for trumpeter Eddie Gale over Wolff’s Afro-Cuban-ish ostinato. When his river of acclaim runs over, Harrison jumps in and takes it further; nothing stays put except that repeating piano! Everything’s swinging, shifting, and getting four-dimensional. Six minutes in, this listener knows something’s cookin’ and can taste it.

Regarding the rhythm section, check how they drive each other in the next tune, “City Swings,” another Big Apple tribute: Goods walks that full bodied bass as Wolff’s piano becomes the sound of cobblestones while Clark turns cymbals into street lamps and tom toms into footsteps and it draws the best out of Adamo. For straight-up soul jazz salutations, check his “dope-a-licious” shout out to Eddie Harris and his “Listen Here Listen Up” as Adamo speaks, sings, shouts and shapes sounds into a verbal free-form improv on the power of the pianist’s funk, proof that one can dance to spoken word when this band’s bringin’ it on the sanctified strength. “General T” is another I’ll-Take-Manhattan tone poem homage, an accolade to a Village Vanguard word slinger who “was talkin’ smooth and preachin’ fire” as the New York Crew cooks a melody in Miles mid-Sixties Quintet eerieness with a strong resemblance to Wayne Shorter’s “Iris.” Sax and trumpet get gorgeous via long-tone blending with the word play, and when Harrison and Ouimette drop out, the rhythm section kicks in underneath Adamo, feeding him and he responds with “funk-spastic” story telling and Harlem history connecting: “Like an ace to a flush, I was in no rush.” The collection’s swingin’est surprise is “You Gotta B Fly,” a Killer Joe-ish uptempo vehicle with a vocal that Adamo totally nails. His singing is so bopright delicious it leaves the spoken word chorus he takes in the dust. The guitar solo by Jean Santalis is another unexpected pleasure. Like the CD itself.

The whole she-bang is for real. Only one question remains: when is Tony Adamo and the New York Crew playing the Big Apple?

For purchase & more info: www.Urbanzonerecords.com

~

http://giantstepspress.blogspot.com/2015/07/tony-adamo-new-york-crew-makin-it-new.html

Reviewed by Kirpal Gordon

reprinted from Jazz Times

blackjackjack.jpg

hitrecordyes.jpg

GOOD 1ST REPARATIONS CONVERSATIONPart two September 17, 2011 at 11 A.M.SEPTEMBER 11, 2011NAT TURNER LIBRARY, Drewryville, VA – The 1st “Reparations Conversation,” produced by T.N.T.L., on Internet Radio Blog Talk Radio platform, showcased the fluidity & correct information that the current generation of N’COBRA (The National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America) Members have about the Great Issue of Reparations. The Senior Co-Chair Diana Kimble, and one of the recently elected Male National Co-Chairs of N’COBRA, Brother Joseph Epps, made the first statements that The Nat Turner Library will document, along with the Congressional Record of the “Reparations Forum” that Rep. John Conyers will convene during Black Caucus Weekend in Washington, D. C. September 21-24, 2011.KAMM HOWARD LEGISLATIVE CHAIRMAN SETS STEADY TONEThe successor to the former Chair of the Legislative Commission, Dr. Nketchi Taifa, Brother Kamm Howard gave an articulate, thorough briefing on his mission to impanel a group of Reparations Advocates for the John Conyers event. His presentation is a good example of what some the first Leaders of N’COBRA did to prepare their successors to achieve the 2nd “Priority Mission of The Coalition: that is, it is thought, find and apply the strategies that will be necessary to “Back up the Demand for Reparations.”Mr. Kamm Howard not only gave a good briefing about why and how he is selecting Reparations Advocates to serve on the Conyers Panel, he also rendered a concise briefing on the current status of the approach to obtain Reparations via United States law. While there was nothing new in the briefing, just to know that N’COBRA “keeps on keeping on” in the new century, will no doubt, energize many who may have been dormant/inactive, after some absolutely dynamic building of N’COBRA during the 1990’s, as it achieved it’s “First Priority Mission.”The “Reparations Conversation” is not reserved strictly for N’COBRA, but save for the Co-Producer of the show, Baba Keidi Awadu, none of the presenters represented the the other 2 of 3-pronged entitlements for Reparations that the Rules and By-Laws of N’COBRA specify: Keidi is the Founder of www.livinginblack.com – the social network widely thought to have introduced the technology (radio and all) to the National Black Community. He is also the Visionary for the Kujichagulia Villages in several states in varied stages of development throughout America. His presentation focused primarily on general needs to “do for self” and he gave particular information about what one of the Self Determination Villages have to offer right now! Khalifah Kujichagulia Village, that includes The Nat Turner Library in Virginia.FOUNDER OF N’COBRA, DR. IMARA OBADELEGAVE O.J.T. TO THE EARLY N’COBRA LEADERSHIPIt is no surprise to those who benefited from the personal contact with The Founder of N’COBRA, the late Dr. Imari Abubukari Obadele, who effectively gave us “O.J.T.” about the nature of the work necessary for the Reparations Demand to be successful: never before in history has a “superior mind” among Black people worked as effectively, as he, in the ranks of the formation that he founded.Dr. Obadele’s injunction to one and all was “just do the work.” And that is exactly what it appears at least one former N’COBRA Commission Chair person has done in preparing Kamm Howard to lead the N’COBRA Legislative Commission. It is expected some of the other N’COBRA Commissions and Committees – Human Resources, Economic Development Commission, Secretary, Treasurer – were as successful as The Legislative Chair Person, in grooming Kamm Howard to Lead this initiative. Of course, she was an avowed Mentee/Mentor connection to Dr. Obadele. Dr. Nketchi Taifa, a Professor at Howard University, in Washington, D. C.. A legend in her own right, as a Mentor of Dr. Obadele, as well as a former Attorney General of the Republic of New Afrika (RNAIf the “Representations Conversation” Saturday is an indication, The Great Issue of Reparations is in good position to sustain the Demand for Reparations. But whether it can identify, develop strategies and apply necessary methodologies to achieve the Next Priority Mission on the progression to the great day in the future of Black people in America? Is the question.Statements regarding Reparations and what Reparations Advocates would like to see come out of the 2011 Reparations Forum of John Conyers, will be taken again this coming Saturday at 11 A. M. If you, or someone you can recommend is interested in reserving 5 minutes of uninterrupted, to advocate for Reparations, air time to comment, call 434-378-2140. Or 323-902-2919.

Once again we owe a show of graditude to Sons of Africa for the information about The Stono Rebellion. Information about Sons of Africa can be obtained at KAfrica33@aol.com An excerpt from one of their postings about The Stono Rebellion that prompted the following blog by H. Khalif Khalifah.
It was information about The Stono Rebellion, Gabriel Prosser, Denmark Vesey & Nat Turner that helped to uncover my Purpose in Life. The information about Stono, Prosser and Denmark (to a lesser extent, since i got my hands on a transcript of the trial of the Black captives who were tried for the Rebellion). But when i got to Nat Turner, Prof John Henrik Clarke had reprinted a copy of "The Confessions of Nat Turner" in his book; "William Styron's Nat Turner: Ten Black Writers Respond." Later, after about 1969, i committed myself to the preservation and propagation of the true accounts about Nat Turner. It is now 2010 and i presently own a 123 acre tract of land that is part of the Plantation land where Nat Turner was born, worked, preached, planned and executed the largest Revolt against The USA in history. www.natturnertrail.com
To preserve this precious history i have conducted tours of The Nat Turner Trail for an estimated 2500 African Americans and two cacasians over the past 20 years. The tours are "staged" from a structure on the land that i have instituted as The Nat Turner Reference Library. The Nat Turner Trail is a revisit to the "battle sites" where the army was victorious in 16 consecutive victories as they fought over a two day period to reach Jerusalem..........so yes, the complete history about our gallantry in physical fights to liberate the race from chattel slavery, second-class citizenship and other forms of oppression has been a continuous one. The latest best documentation about the physical fight of a Black Liberation was led by Sister Assata Shakur (presently exiled in Cuba), who led an underground movement to avoid the fate of The Black Party members who were slaughtered in the late 1960's and early 1970's.....There has never been a through/conprehensive recordation about the Black Liberation Army of the 1970's in a book, but the various parts are scattered and available for the historian with the resources, courage, will and determination to research and write that book..........i have been involved in the publication of some 600 different titles over the course of my work in "The Struggle." I would love to have some involvement in the documenation of the history about The BLA OF THE 1970S IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: if anyone has such a manuscript, or one in progress, or just have some documentation that will be helpful for a future researcher of our history from, say 1960, please contact me (434) 378-2140.................................Khalifah
________________________________________________________________________________
----------------
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS AT OR FROM KHALIFAH ESTATES -
OCTOER IS PTslaveryD Awarness month.
From The Ramparts
Junious Ricardo Stanton
Tax Time

“Revenue from mortgages, deeds or securities dropped 36 percent, with the largest decreases occurring in the South. The declines in tax revenue have forced states to reduce spending. States cut their general fund expenditures by nearly 5 percent in 2009, according to the National Governors Association, and are expected to cut spending by another 4 percent this year as revenue collections continue to decline. The association predicts state revenues likely will continue to be depressed in 2011 and 2012, since state tax collections tend to lag national economic recovery.” State Revenue Falls 9%; decline likely to continue Washington Business Journal March 29, 2010

As you read this, the April 15th filing date for federal and most state income taxes is almost upon us. If you’re like me you waited until the late minute then scrambled to get all your forms, records and laboriously go over them to meet the filing deadline. Local governments impose taxes on the public to cover its operating costs. But in the case of the federal government the money we pay goes to the interest and fees associated with the printing of US currency by a consortium of privately owned banks known as the Federal Reserve Bank. The member banks of the Federal Reserve system are not part of the federal government, they exist and operate in contradiction to the supposedly sacrosanct US Constitution which states Congress has the power “To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures...” US Constitution Article I section 8. Congress abdicated that power in 1913 when it supposedly passed the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution.

The Fed as it is called is the culprit behind the creation of the US income tax. The Fed in collusion with its fellow international bankersters created and facilitated all the boom and busts since its creation in 1913. “A consortium of international bankers had tried and failed over and over again to maintain financial dominance of the U.S., but this changed in 1913. As is covered in great depth in G. Edward Griffin’s incredible book The Creature From Jekyll Island, the consortium returned, led by men such as JP Morgan, Paul Warburg, Frank Vanderlip, German Bankers Kuhn, Loeb and Co., and the Rothschild Family among others. They and their representatives met in secret, traveling under fake names, to meet at the resort on Jekyll Island off the coast of Georgia in 1910. Under Paul Warburg’s direction, they drafted a plan to pass the 16th Amendment which would allow them to flank the Supreme Court in creating an income tax, as well as the Federal Reserve Act, which would form the new Federal Reserve System (the bank was in no way a part of the Federal Government. The name was used to swindle the public into believing the institution was not the same as the Central Banks they despised). The plan was then to be presented to Congress by their confidant Senator Nelson Aldrich as if it was his idea alone.” The Anti-Income tax Movement And Why They are Right By Giordano Bruno Neithercorp Press - 02/25/2010

Even with an income tax, the US government and most states are still broke. With each passing year “we the people” are being gouged, fleeced and taxed into poverty and peonage. The federal, state and local governments are in deep financial difficulty and they are forced to hit
taxpayers harder to take up whatever slack they can. The economy is way down, unemployment and bankruptcies are way up, so naturally tax revenues are not what they used to be. Federal tax
revenues are off over the last two years following the Wall Street banker/speculator created economic implosion. “Federal tax revenue plunged $138 billion, or 34%, in April vs. a year ago — the biggest April drop since 1981, a study released Tuesday by the American Institute for Economic Research says. When the economy slumps, so does tax revenue, and this recession has been no different, says Kerry Lynch, senior fellow at the AIER and author of the study. ‘It illustrates how severe the recession has been.’ For example, 6 million people lost jobs in the 12 months ended in April — and that means far fewer dollars from income taxes. Income tax revenue dropped 44% from a year ago... Big revenue losses mean that the U.S. budget deficit may be larger than predicted this year and in future years.” IRS tax revenue falls along with taxpayers' income by John Waggoner USA Today.

The situation will probably worsen in 2010 into 2011 because the commercial real estate market is unraveling. “Over the next five years, about $1.4 trillion in commercial real estate loans will reach the end of their terms and require new financing. Nearly half are ‘underwater,’ meaning the borrower owes more than the property is worth. Commercial property values have fallen more than 40 percent nationally since their 2007 peak. Vacancy rates are up and rents are down, further driving down the value of these properties. When the reckoning comes, it could threaten everyone from banks and pension funds to renters and small businesses -- and small banks could be particularly vulnerable.” Elizabeth Warren warns about Commercial Real Estate Crisis Downward Spiral For Small Businesses and Banks The Huffington Post 02-11-10 .

This means even less tax revenue will flow into federal, state and local coffers. Where will the needed money come from to replace these funds? What does this decline in revenue mean for working folks? It means local governments will be increasingly hard pressed and stretched to make ends meet. In fact some municipalities and state finances are so precarious, default on their loans, and pension obligations is a real possibility ! This means state and local governments will be forced to: raise taxes, cut services or both. Guess who will catch the brunt of these cuts and tax increases? State and local government debt has skyrocketed in the last several decades and now the bill is coming due. “The growth in local government debt has exploded since the 1970s. We went from $295 billion in 1968 to $2.3 trillion today. But as Greece is demonstrating, there is such a thing as having too much debt and at a certain point the markets no longer have an appetite for so much borrowing. Average Americans probably have a hard time examining the large numbers being thrown around. Yet state and local governments are now finding a hard time balancing their budgets. In many cases, the ability to balance their budget goes in direct conflict with paying out pension distributions. Or in many cases states need to raise taxes or cut services.” - The $2.3 Trillion State and Local Government Debt Monster – California Pension Systems on Unsupportable Path with $500 Billion Projected Shortfall. CalPERS, CalSTRS, and UCRS.

The federal government unlike the states is not constitutionally mandated to balance its budget; so it will continue to spend money it doesn’t have and descend deeper and deeper into debt. (The US government borrows over two billion a day just to operate and this doesn’t count the appropriations for their imperialist wars) It means the government will take even more of our money via all kinds of taxes and hidden fees. We will continue to experience flat line wages. We
will have less discretionary funds for spending.

This is why white anger and frustration levels are so high and why their anger and frustration are being channeled and manipulated by the tea party movement backers. This is why
the anti-income tax movement is growing. I suggest you rent or download the late Aaron Russo’s film America, From Freedom to Fascism. It examines the nexus between the Federal Reserve Bank and the illegality of the US federal income tax among other things. I am not telling anyone not to pay your taxes but we need to do the research about the real deal about the government, the Fed and taxation. In a future article I will introduce you to a courageous Sistah named Sherry Peel Jackson who appears in Russo’s film. Mrs. Jackson is a former IRS agent currently in federal prison for telling people there is no actual law that says we have to pay federal income tax.

-30-

THE 179th ANNIVERSARY OF NAT TURNER’SHEAVENLY VISION CELEBRATED ON THE 5th ANNUALBLACK HISTORY MONTH GATHERING 2/20/10By H. Khalif KhalifahJANUARY 19, 2010SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - Nat Turner received a “Heavenly Vision” when he ran away from the Slave Plantation in 1825. He was gone for 30 days. When he returned he got a lot of flack from fellow captives who ridiculed him for voluntarily returning to captivity. Of course they didn’t know what he knew, and as Elder Osirius is fond of saying, “they didn’t know they did not know what they didn’t know.”There is much that we still don’t know about Nat Turner, especially during the time when he ran away. But he told us the things we do know about the time. The things he did allowed him to find his Life Purpose. What he needed to do to fulfill the purpose came in what is commonly referred to as one of the “heavenly visions of Nat Turner.” And it told him that he’d been too concerned about the things of this world. Instead, he must forsake them and “First Seek the Kingdom of Heaven” and all the things he was after would be added.“I heard a loud noise in the heavens, and the Spirit instantly appeared to me and said the serpent was loosened, and Christ had laid down the yoke he had born for the sins of men, and that I should pick it up and fight against the serpent, for the time was fast approaching when the first shall be last and the last shall be first.”The vision made it clear to Nat Turner that what he needed to fulfill his Life Purpose was in the “Kingdom of Heaven.” In this use of the quote from the New Testament, it meant ‘prepare yourself to receive the things that are in The Kingdom of Heaven.’ The vision was the clearest yet that “he was destined for some great purpose in the hands of the Almighty.”Obviously, he was not in position, or condition to receive them when he experienced the vision. But Nat Turner knew what to do to get into position. He was of no doubt that what he wanted would be possible if he had what was in The Heavens: Proper knowledge of self had already told him what he wanted more than anything on earth; that was Freedom, Justice & Equality for himself, his family and fellow captive Black people in the United States of America. After receiving the vision and realizing his Life Purpose, according to Nat Turner, “I spent all my time that was not in service to my master in prayer and mediation.”To get ready he fasted, prayed and meditated to achieve what he wanted more than anything else on earth. He also kept his mouth shut about his Life Purpose. When he had done the things to get ready received a unique Heavenly Vision. This Heavenly Vision came in a solar eclipse on February 12, 1831. The vision told Nat Turner he could confide his purpose to four trusted captives: Nelson, Sam, Hawk, and Henry. He told them what his mission was. They joined on to the mission. From that day on, they were united in an unshakable bond of brotherhood. In the Brotherhood they made careful plans and set a date from which to enact their plans. The date chosen was July 4, 1831. But after all the strategy, and planning for every eventuality they could think of, they could not plan for the unforeseen fact that leading up to July 4, Nat Turner became seriously ill. So at the last minute they had to change the date. They chose as a new date, August 20/21, 1831.Came that August 20, they had one final meeting at a place called Cabin Pond. And after a final strategy session that Sunday evening at Cabin Pond, they began their attack by killing slave owner Joseph Travis, the surrogate owner of Nat Turner. He was surrogate because Nat Turner’s real owner was just a boy. After Killing Joseph Travis and the slave holders family and confiscated his valuables & etc., Nat Turner took the time to form a Black Liberation Army: he gave them the only military training on the Travis Plantation. He and his men then marched in the direction of a place called Jerusalem – visiting death on a carefully chosen series of slave plantations in route. At each plantation they visited, the BLA marching orders were to, free the captives, recruit others into the Army, kill the slave owner and his family, and keep time to get to Jerusalem.THE 5th ANNUAL BLACK HISTORY MONTH GATHERINGThis coming Black History Month, February, 2010, we will revisit the march route of The Black Liberation Army. The date is February 20 to commemorate the 179th anniversary of the Heavenly Vision that released Nat Turner’s secret about his Life Purpose. It will be a prelude to the 5th “Black History Month Gathering Dinner,” and maybe dance. The Tour of the Nat Turner Trail will be conducted for what I estimate to the 2,000th person who have “re-visited” the route to Jerusalem with me. We still have seats on “the bus” so anyone of a mind to really get to know the story about Nat Turner, there is no better way to get the information than to take “The Living History Tour” in Southampton County, Virginia.Previous Black History Month Gatherings have evolved a unique way to collectively Group Teach our history. It will be a pleasant surprise to everyone, except for individuals who have been to one the prior four. The Tour will be $30 per seat, which will include the 5th Annual “Black History Month Gathering & Dinner” in the Nat Turner Reference Library. For more information about the Black History Month Gathering, go to www.khabooks.com Or call 434-378-2140. Included in the complaint is Branch’s detailed statement describing a traffic stop, which she says, traumatized her and her husband beyond belief and has cost her a whole year of her life.On April 25 of 2007, while traveling through Anniston on I-20, Branch and her husband (then fiancé), Victoriano Martinez, who is Mexican, were stopped by two Anniston police officers because they “touched the white line.” In her complaint, Branch alleges the two officers used this as a pretext for the stop. But, after two more officers joined them, the police detained and excessively questioned the couple on the side of the highway for hours. Dr. Branch, who was en route to a medical conference in Texas, had research specimens in her vehicle, along with other items used in her veterinary practice. She also had her personal prescription medications, which included the hormone, progesterone. During questioning, Dr. Branch offered to produce her Veterinary license, as well as her DEA license, which expressly exempts her from charges for illegal possession of prescription drugs. Officers declined her offer to show them her licenses (which they later saw anyway during the searches). Eventually joined by 4 more officers (presumably from Drug Enforcement), and a drug dog, the determined officers persisted in their relentless pursuit to find illegal substances in the couple’s possession.“They asked us all kinds of personal questions that were irrelevant to the alleged traffic violation, and that were none of their business: Where are you going? Where are you coming from? Where do you live? What do you do? What color did you paint your house?” Branch stated that the officers attempted to “quiz” her about her chemical compounds. Determined to make them be illegal substances, the officers tested and re-tested the solutions, then angered by the negative results, threw the test packets out on the shoulder of the road. After all their searching the only thing they found was Dr. Branch’s prescription medication, and despite her having the written prescriptions in her possession, they still charged her with “illegal possession of prescription drugs”, (her progesterone prescription). Dr. Branch and her husband, were placed under arrest and taken to the Anniston City Jail, where they were held for hours. Branch was finally allowed to make bond, but Victoriano Martinez was held overnight.“As if all this wasn’t enough, after we bonded out of jail, and continued our trip, we started having engine trouble ¾ only to discover ¾ these officers had gone under the hood of the truck, dismantled the air filter, emptied the radiator of all it’s fluid and drained all the motor oil out of the vehicle. There was no reason for this! This was clearly an act of malice!” Branch told Ralph Bradford on “African Americans Talking,” a Sunday morning radio show that airs on WHOG in Anniston.Though all charges against Branch and her husband were dismissed on May 30, and July 13, 2007, Branch comments “How can any individual be expected to overcome this kind of treatment? To have your rights and your human dignity, violated out there on the highway where you have no recourse, and no choice but to lie there and allow yourself to be stripped of your constitutional rights, is like being raped... Only ten times worse…”“My concern is how many other African Americans who didn’t have the means to fight, have had this kind of thing happen.
